Welcome to Suontientaipaleen Lapit ry’s site
Genealogy Association Suontientaipaleen Lapit ry is founded in January 2009 at Pieksämäki, Finland. It was registered in April same year.
As an unregistered family society it was operated since 1980s.
Suontientaipaleen Lapit is translated as Lappi family initiated from Suontientaipale and ry as a registered association.
Nowadays it is rural part of Jäppilä village in Pieksämäki town.
Unfortunately Suontientaipale has not been located in the map anymore.
Two of our ancestors have lived in that village in the 17th century and even nowadays some members of the generation continue living there.
The purpose of the Suontientaipaleen Lapit ry is to gather information from generations of Mr. Heikki Lappi (born in 1679) and Mr. Antti Lappi (born in 1654)
to preserve family information for future generations and distribute material to its members.
The other purpose is to increase social cohesion between the family members.
From the mid 90’s every third year around hundred members of the family have been collected together
to gain more information and have some fun.
The year 2013 was very important for two reasons.
Firstly, after an immense work of Mr. Pekka Lappi, a family book has been released (written in Finnish)
and secondly we got a new coat of arms.
